If you’re into whisky, wine, or just love a good Saturday night out in Glasgow — this one’s for you.
This Saturday, the 17th of May, The Glasgow Distillery is teaming up with Malo, the city’s go-to bar for negronis and curated wine selections, to host a one-off tasting event that celebrates World Whisky Day in true style. Called Cask Connections: The Glasgow Distillery Edition, it’s part of the distillery’s tenth birthday and marks the launch of three new experimental single malts.
A whisky tasting with a twist
What makes this different from your usual tasting? Each of the limited-edition whiskies has been aged in rare wine casks– and on the night, you’ll taste each one alongside the actual wine that seasoned the cask. It’s a proper behind-the-scenes look at flavour, and a clever way to understand how whisky gets its character.
The whiskies are part of the Small Batch Series – a space where The Glasgow Distillery plays with bolder, less traditional finishes. And with only 25 tickets available, it’s shaping up to be a very intimate affair.

What to expect on the night
You’ll kick things off with a Makar Gin Negroni (the distillery’s award-winning London Dry Gin, made in Glasgow), before being guided through the whisky and wine pairings. There’s also a one-night-only birthday cocktail made with Glasgow 1770 whisky – created just for the event.
Tickets are £45 and include everything: welcome drink, three whisky pours, three wine pairings, and the anniversary cocktail.

Why it’s worth going
According to Sebastian Bunford Jones, Global Marketing Manager at The Glasgow Distillery, the idea behind the event is to spotlight innovation in whisky and bring people closer to the craft.
“This event is a true celebration of what makes contemporary whisky so exciting — innovation, collaboration, and a deep respect for flavour, we’ve spent nearly two years developing these new Small Batch releases, and to launch them in partnership with one of Glasgow’s most respected bars, on World Whisky Day, and during our tenth anniversary year, feels incredibly fitting. Pairing each whisky with the wine that seasoned its cask allows people to experience the creative process in a completely new way,” he says.
Evan Rodriguez from Malo adds:
“At Malo, we’re always looking to create experiences that go beyond the glass, and this collaboration with The Glasgow Distillery does exactly that. These whiskies are full of character and story, and the opportunity to taste them alongside the wines that shaped them is something really special. Add in a Makar Gin Negroni on arrival and a one-night-only birthday cocktail, and it’s shaping up to be one of the most exciting events we’ve hosted.”
