The words “unique night out” get thrown around a lot, but VEGA’s reimagined space finally puts that phrase to good use. The Glasgow skyline bar, perched on top of YOTEL in the city centre, has just had a glow-up — and with it comes a city first: Glasgow’s first customisable cocktail night.
Here’s the deal: you can book out a whole U-shaped bar for you and your pals, complete with your own bartender shaking up drinks, food and themes chosen by you. Basically, your night out is designed entirely around you and your friends.
If you’re searching for a truly unique night out in Glasgow or something new to add to your list of things to do in Glasgow city centre, VEGA’s new U-Bar concept should be top of your radar.

So, what’s the U-Bar?
Think of it as a private playground for cocktail lovers. A glowing, neon U-shaped bar with 13 seats, all yours for three hours. While you sit back with the skyline in the background, your bartender will mix up four themed drinks chosen by you, with snacks to match.
It’s not just another cocktail class — it’s a new Glasgow cocktail bar experience that lets you take over the bar itself and make the whole night feel like it was made for your group.
Pick your vibe
VEGA’s launch packages let you set the mood:
- Sky High Classics – a polished spin on timeless cocktails.
- Bootleggers – prohibition-era speakeasy feels, with drinks to match.
- VEGA Disco – neon, sparkle and 70s/80s nostalgia shaken into the glass.
- U- – the wildcard: bartenders take two drinks you love and two you loathe and reimagine them into something completely unexpected.
Prices start at £50 per person, which gets you four cocktails, paired snacks, and your own bartender. Bookings are open for groups of 6–13, Saturdays through Thursdays via vegaglasgow.com.
Fridays hit different
For smaller groups or solo cocktail fans, VEGA has lined up U-Bar Takeovers every Friday. Each week, a different guest bartender steps in with a four-cocktail menu inspired by their personal journey. You can book a seat, sample exclusive drinks, and still order from VEGA’s main list (cocktails start from £9.60).
Why it stands out
Glasgow is full of great bars, but VEGA’s U-Bar feels like a proper first. It’s immersive, playful and taps into that craving for experiences as much as drinks. Whether you’re planning a birthday, a work night out, or just fancy something beyond your usual round of espresso martinis, this is the kind of night that doesn’t blend into the rest. If you’re looking for fun things to do in Glasgow city centre, this is one worth booking.
What’s new at VEGA?
The U-Bar is the centrepiece of VEGA’s refurbishment. The whole space has had a glow-up: sleeker lighting, a refreshed layout, and interiors that make the skyline views pop. There are new spots for larger groups (up to 30), Scotland’s only neon-lit bowling alley, and an all-day dining setup that means you could happily hang out there from brunch until late.
General Manager Neil Taylor describes it as: “a destination that’s electric by day and intimate by night.”
