The weekend is almost here. Yes, the weather might be rubbish, but we’ve got the perfect plans to brighten up your week. Check out these five fab new openings and events that are happening all over Scotland. Whether you’re into music festivals or gin tours, there’s something for everyone to love.

1. Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival

The Scottish festival is celebrating it’s 20th year.

Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival kicks off today in the stunning Highland scenery of Belladrum Estate near Inverness. Celebrating their 20th anniversary, the family-friendly music and arts festival boasts a varied line-up of local and international artists, as well as comedy, theatre, dance, cabaret, workshops, and more. This year’s headliners include Scottish superstar KT Tunstall, Travis, Bastille, Sigrid, and others. The festival also has a range of camping and glamping options, food stalls, bars, and activities for kids.

The festival runs until Saturday 29th July and tickets are still available online.

2. Lunch Concept Store in Stills

The pop-up store in Stills, Edinburgh celebrates Scottish talent.

Opening today, Lunch Concept Store is a season-less concept store that promotes slow and sustainable style. The store hosts a number of new independent designers from across Scotland and the world who offer made-to-order or small batch production pieces of clothing, jewellery, and accessories.

Lunch Concept Store is popping up at Stills, a centre for photography in Edinburgh’s Old Town, until Tuesday 1st August. You can shop their incredible collection of unique and ethical fashion, as well as browse the art and photography exhibitions within the art space.

Lunch Concept Store is open every day from 10am to 6pm and admission is free.

3. The Marigold Café Brunch

The Marigold Café is a chic new spot for foodies in Glasgow.

The Marigold Café has opened in Glasgow’s West End, serving food with an Indian influence, as well as great drinks and cocktails curated by the expert Marigold Mixologists. You won’t want to miss their excellent brunch menu featuring the loaded breakfast naan – a heavenly combination of a ‘full Scottish’ breakfast inside a freshly baked naan bread, topped with chilli jam. If you have a sweet tooth, indulge in the chai spiced croissant or the warm waffles with pistachio yogurt, cardamom, and fresh fruit.

4. A Sip Through Time Gin Tour

This weekend marks the last weekend of Gin Month, and what better way to celebrate than by booking yourself a space on The Real Mary King’s Close specially curated gin tour, ‘A Sip Through Time’, in partnership with Edinburgh distillers, Pickering’s Gin.

You will have the opportunity to journey beneath the iconic Royal Mile and discover the history of Edinburgh’s bustling gin trade. The one-hour interactive history tour will conclude with a crafted gin-tasting session led by local experts giving the perfect excuse to raise a glass and sample some luxuriously smooth gin.

5. Lannan Bakery Opening

Lannan bakery opens this weekend in Stockbridge, Edinburgh.

For a weekend of coffee, croissants, and chill time, head to Lannan, the new bakery from Edinburgh’s Darcie Maher, opening this Saturday, 29th July. The bakery is a cosy and chic new addition to Stockbridge, serving Maher’s signature bakes, and coffee from the local roastery, Obadiah. You’ll also find limited-run creations using local and seasonal produce, such as lemon meringue tarts, dauphinoise pastries and crème brûlée danishes. If you fancy savoury, try the delicious pies and sandwiches.
