If you like sport, art, and when the two come together – this is one to have on your radar. Full of colour, creativity and community spirit, TOPSP!N is a new free exhibition opening in Glasgow on Thursday 10 April, and it’s quietly one of the most joyful things to check out this month.

Hosted at Wasps Studios, South Block, it’s the third in a series by Glasgow-based creative studio Pim-Pam, following the success of SP!N (2019) and BACKSP!N (2022). Each event blends contemporary design with grassroots sport – and this latest chapter is no different.

This time, more than a dozen illustrators, designers and visual artists have each taken a table tennis paddle and turned it into a one-off work of art. The result? A bright, fun, and genuinely creative show where every piece is up for auction – with 100% of proceeds going to Drumchapel Table Tennis Club, one of the UK’s largest and most inclusive clubs.

What to expect

On show will be paddle artworks from comic book artist Frank Quitely, hip-hop artist Bemz, landscape painter Robert Kelsey, and Glasgow favourites Conzo:Globel. There’s also international talent like West African artists Osa Seven and Adaora Lumina, alongside playful typographic pieces from Bungo Sign Co and bold visual design by Craig Black and Agata Pietrusz.

It’s the kind of crossover event that reminds you how creative this city can be – and why local clubs like Drumchapel deserve the spotlight.

Opening night

Thursday 10 April is your chance to meet the artists, check out the paddles in person, and even play a match against some of Drumchapel’s rising young stars – all on a bespoke table designed by Bungo Sign Co. It’s free to attend, and bidding in the silent auction is open to everyone, both in person and online.
