Privacy and cookies policy

At Quine Magazine, we care deeply about your privacy. Whether you’re reading our latest articles, signing up to a Quine event, or browsing with a cuppa in hand, we’re committed to protecting your data and being transparent about how we use it.

What this policy covers:

This policy outlines how we collect, use, and store your personal information – including through our website (quinemagazine.com), newsletter sign-ups, event registrations, and online purchases.

Who we are

We are Quine Magazine – Scotland’s only digital-first women’s publication. Our website is operated by Quine Ltd, owned and run by Gemma Meek.

What personal data we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

  • Your name and email address (when signing up for our newsletter or events)
  • Billing information (when making a purchase – processed securely by Stripe)
  • Delivery address and contact info (for event tickets or prize winners)
  • Device info and site usage (via cookies and analytics)
  • Preferences and responses to surveys or competitions

Payments

We use WooCommerce Payments, powered by Stripe, to process ticket orders and payments.

We do not store your card details or sensitive payment information. All transactions are processed securely through Stripe, and only the minimum necessary data is collected to complete your purchase.

Marketing & communications

When you sign up for our newsletter, register for an event, or make a purchase, you may receive:

  • Occasional emails about upcoming events, offers, or content
  • Transactional emails (e.g. event reminders, receipts)

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time via the link at the bottom of any message. We’ll never spam you, and we won’t share your details with third parties for marketing purposes.

Cookies

Yes, we use cookies (sadly not the baked kind). These help us:

  • Understand how visitors use our site
  • Improve the browsing experience
  • Track affiliate links or campaign performance

You can manage cookie settings via your browser at any time.

Who we share your data with

We only share your data with trusted services we use to run Quine Magazine smoothly. These include:

  • Stripe – for secure payment processing
  • Mailchimp – for our newsletter delivery
  • Google Analytics – to help us understand visitor behaviour

Some of the links on our site are affiliate links (including Awin, Skimlinks, and Amazon Associates). These platforms may use cookies to track if you’ve clicked a link and made a purchase. This helps support Quine Magazine at no extra cost to you.

We never sell your data. Ever.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the data we hold about you
  • Request corrections or updates
  • Ask us to delete your data
  • Withdraw consent for marketing at any time

To make any of these requests, email: gemma@quinemagazine.com
