There’s a new brunch spot in Bruntsfield – and if you’re a fan of good coffee, crispy hash browns, and the kind of waffles that deserve their own moment on Instagram, this one’s for you.

Pantry, the Stockbridge café that’s built a loyal following since 2012, has just opened a second location in Edinburgh’s south side. It’s taken over the former Honeycomb & Co spot on Merchiston Place, bringing with it the same laid-back charm and menu full of thoughtful, ingredient-led dishes.

Whether you’re stopping by for a quick weekday breakfast or planning a slower weekend catch-up, Pantry Bruntsfield brings its signature mix of relaxed interiors and brunch classics to the south side. The menu covers everything from hearty full breakfasts to lighter, seasonal plates – all made with an emphasis on quality and flavour.

So, what’s on the menu?

The Pantry Fry is as iconic as ever – packed with posh pork sausages, streaky smoked bacon, Stornoway black pudding, Campbell’s haggis, confit mushrooms, baked beans, and a poached egg, all finished with a smoked paprika grilled tomato and crispy hash browns.

There’s also The V Guy, a veggie take featuring tattie scone and avocado, and the No Small Fry, which lets you build your own from favourites like black pudding or haggis, hash browns and egg.

If waffles are more your thing, the Pantry Waffles come piled with blueberry compote, fresh berries, and 100% Canadian maple syrup – simple, sweet, and very photogenic.

From waffles to shakshuka-style dishes – the Pantry brunch table is always full of flavour.

Other highlights include:

  • Sunshine on Bruntsfield: roasted sweet potato, grilled courgette, avocado and poached eggs with a hit of sriracha
  • Halloumi & Lemon: crispy fried halloumi with turmeric labneh and a chickpea tagine
  • Avocado Toast with lime + coriander salsa (with optional smoked salmon or bacon)
  • A full line-up of eggs benedict options: from classic Florentine to honey roast ham
  • A kids menu and build-your-own breakfast rolls for fuss-free choices

And don’t skip the sides – especially the Breakfast Chips with manchego, truffle oil, and black pepper.

The drinks menu?

Add a flat white, a mimosa, or even a Nutella iced latte, and you’re set. Pantry serves everything from good old-fashioned builders’ tea to cold brew, matcha lattes, and cocktails – including Bloody Marys, espresso martinis, and build-your-own mimosa bottles if you’re feeling celebratory. All coffees can be made decaf, and there’s a full selection of alternative milks and syrups.

Pantry co-owner Peter Borgen-Nielsen says the move to Bruntsfield felt like a natural next step, “Bruntsfield has always been on our radar as a neighbourhood that values great food, a warm atmosphere, and community spirit. We’re incredibly excited to bring Pantry’s signature dishes and welcoming environment to the area.”
