Jade Robertson Shop Little Lies

Cocktails, vintage shopping, Parisian dining, nature walks, and wine flights – take a trip to Perth with Little Lies co-founder Jade Robertson, who shares the best places to visit in her hometown.

What independent shops should everyone visit?

Perth is so good for exploring indie shops and discovering gems. My favourite has to be modern department store, Quince & Cook, where you’ll find the most beautifully curated collections of interiors, kitchenware, gifts and zero-waste essentials. I recently picked up a festive clementine and clove candle that I loved so much, I had to go back to stock up!

Another goodie that I make sure to always visit over the festive season is Whispers of the Past – it has been around for decades, and it’s full to the brim with gifts, homewares and vintage trinkets. I can’t get enough!

When it comes to fashion, Revival is a great boutique specialising in pre-loved designer pieces, and we’re also very lucky to have the beautiful Eva Lucia, where you can find lots of expertly selected ranges to shop with a glass of fizz in hand – truly excellent customer service.

Where are your favourite places to eat?

French brasserie Café Tabou, located in Perth’s café quarter, is a favourite of mine – the food is excellent and it’s just like stepping into a proper little French bistro. Another regular spot of mine is Kisa’s because they make the best bramble cocktail in Perth!

And for spot of filthy brunch at the weekend, my husband and I like to visit The Bulldog Frog. Think burgers, loaded fries and innovative weekly specials but made by an excellent chef with top quality produce, and served up alongside a killer playlist and super cool décor.

What about unwinding with a quiet drink or coffee?

As a mum to a toddler, my coffee is usually consumed at home or at my desk, and exceptionally strong – there’s not much unwinding going on! But if I’m out with a friend or my husband, and I have some time to unwind, a quiet drink is definitely my go to. On a cosy winter’s day, I like to pop into Greyson’s Wine Café – they do the best wine flight, which lets you find a new favourite tipple.

Where is your ideal date night spot?

As business owners and parents, we don’t get much opportunity for date nights, but when we do venture out, we like to make it special – and there’s nowhere better than North Port. The restaurant is a family business that brings together fine dining with locally sourced produce, so it’s our top pick for birthdays and anniversaries.

Where’s your favourite place to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and get back to nature?

Perth may have city status, but it’s a quiet and beautiful place! Little Lies’ office is just a five-minute drive from the city centre, yet it’s in the middle of the countryside, so we’re lucky to get to spend time away from any hustle or bustle. If I’m feeling the need for a proper re-set, there are some great walks nearby – a childhood favourite has always been The Hermitage, near Dunkeld.

Favourite museum or art gallery?

Perth’s former City Hall has just been completely renovated into a beautiful new museum. It’s right in the middle of the city centre, and surrounded by great cafes, restaurants and bars, so when it opens in spring 2024, it’s going to be an excellent place to spend an afternoon mooching around with some good food and wine. The city’s former museum has also been transformed into Perth Art Gallery, so I’m really looking forward to taking my daughter to explore both spaces next year.
