Move over coffee catch-ups—this September, it’s all about indulging in the perfect pastry.

With autumn in the air, Lannan, Stockbridge’s newest bakery hotspot, is teaming up with food writer and Elliott’s founder Jess Elliott Dennison for a one-of-a-kind pop-up event that’s sure to be the talk of the town. On Thursday, 26th September, early risers and pastry lovers can swing by Lannan to sample a selection of autumnal bakes from Jess’s newly released cookbook, Midweek Recipes.

Who’s who at the pop-up

Lannan, Stockbridge’s newest bakery gem, opened in July 2023 and is the brainchild of baker Darcie Maher. Known for its exquisite viennoiserie, decadent custard slices, pains suisses, and cardamom buns, Lannan has quickly become a favourite for those seeking quality baked goods made with local and seasonal ingredients. The bakery’s unique approach to baking has already earned it the title of Pastry Opening of the Year 2024 by La Liste, making it a standout in Edinburgh’s vibrant food scene.

Jess Elliott Dennison is the founder of Elliott’s and a renowned food writer who has authored several popular cookbooks, including Salad FeastsTin Can Magic, and Lazy Baking. Her latest book, Midweek Recipes, released in August 2024, focuses on bringing ease and joy to everyday cooking with simple yet satisfying dishes. Known for her approachable style and passion for celebrating the everyday kitchen, Jess has been featured in top publications such as VOGUEStylist, and The Guardian. She also hosts seasonal cookery demonstrations and has collaborated with culinary stars like Asma Khan and Sami Tamimi.

What to expect at the pop-up

Starting at 8am and running until sell-out, the Lannan x Elliott’s pop-up will feature an array of autumnal treats straight from the pages of Midweek Recipes. Highlights include:

  • Marmalade Toast Sponge Pudding: A cozy, nostalgic dessert with a bright, citrusy twist.
  • Lemon Madeleines: Delicate, airy bites that pair perfectly with a morning coffee.
  • Treacle Fig Loaf with Alp Blossom Cheese: A sophisticated blend of sweet figs and tangy cheese.
  • Earl Grey Prune Clafoutis: A refined take on the classic French dessert, infused with the subtle flavors of tea.
  • Brown Butter and Rosemary Apple Cake: A warm, fragrant cake that encapsulates autumn in every bite.

Alongside these delectable bakes, visitors will also have the opportunity to purchase signed copies of Midweek Recipes and shop Elliott’s curated range of jams, preserves, and kitchenware, perfect for those looking to bring a slice of Jess’s culinary magic into their own homes.
