Love is in the air—or maybe that’s just the smell of freshly baked pastries wafting down the streets of Edinburgh. Either way, Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, and if you’re looking for the perfect date spot, you’re in the right place.
We asked Edinburgh-based foodie Amber Ojak (@edible_in_edinburgh) to share her favourite places to wine, dine, and maybe even impress your date (or your best mate, because celebrating friendships is just as important). Whether you’re after candlelight and cosy corners, a caffeine-fuelled adventure, or something a little more out of the box, Amber’s got the inside scoop. So, if you’re wondering where to go in Edinburgh for a date this Valentine’s Day, read on for her top picks.
Best spots for a romantic dinner date
There are definitely a few! I really like Thamel, which has a lovely atmosphere but is also really vibrant. I think any of the Civerino’s locations are also a great spot for a romantic dinner—because who doesn’t love to share a slice of pizza? (Well, I don’t, but their pizzas are so huge you won’t even notice!). I’d also say Wedgwood is a wonderful choice too.
Best bar for date night cocktails
There are so many in Edinburgh, but I really rate Tonic, and I always have! They have an intimate setting, and the cocktails are always first-class—inventive and delicious. You really can’t go wrong here!
Best sweet treats for Valentine’s Day
I would highly recommend MÒR Bakehouse’s sweet treats, especially their salted caramel and white chocolate tart—it’s delicious! I’d also suggest picking up some fabulous macarons from Mademoiselle Macaron; they’re the best in the city!
Best spot for a daytime date
I would actually suggest a hot chocolate or coffee shop crawl as a fantastic way to explore Edinburgh’s many incredible bakeries and cafés. If I had to pick, Ante and cafēn both have really aesthetic atmospheres.
Best place for a Galentine’s night out
For a Galentine’s night, girls should book into Brewhemia for their live entertainment and dinner evenings—it’s always SO much fun! Or, for something a little more laid-back, go for a boozy brunch at Scran New Town—their French toast is amazing!
Best spot for an unconventional date night
I would say Flight Club darts every time! It’s one of the most exciting activities in Edinburgh, and the food and drinks are always first-class.
